LIBERATION!

Denmark’s Liberation, the 5th of May, celebrates the liberation from Germany in 1945 as World War II was coming to an end. We typically celebrate the night before by placing a lit candle in our windows symbolizing the end of darkness that surrounded us during the occupation.


Today, 79 years later, I find gratitude in the freedom that was provided to so many on that day and grateful to be picking this very special day to complete the adoption of my beautiful therapy horses, Hershey and Reese. Their story, too, is of Liberation - from trauma and abuse. They arrived at the Rescue in September of 2023 due to severe neglect and abuse but have made a remarkable recovery and are now ready for their next chapter in our health and wellness journey.


Today I not only light a candle to honor past trauma and allow the harm to transition to harmony but celebrate a life that will be lived with love, liberation, and freedom on the foundation of perseverance, survival, and forgiveness. Hershey and Reese have taught me so much about how to heal and move on gracefully. A gift we will soon share with you, through Noetic Nutrition and Wellness.


May also holds space for Mental Health Awareness, which includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. A time to put thought towards how chronic pain in the body can be from hurt and betrayal in the past or how autoimmune diseases can manifest from overly demanding careers, or childhood abuse that has gone unacknowledged.


Diet, physical activity, and interpersonal relationships have a direct correlation with overall wellness, and we must recognize the impact that lifestyle factors have on physical, emotional, and mental health. We are quick to focus on physical fitness and nutrition for sustainable health and longevity, but mental fitness is equally important and needs to be addressed with more ease and grace in our society.


I recently watched a podcast from Simon Sinek in which he mentioned the 8-minute rule. I have enclosed an abbreviated link here and encourage all of us to find an active place for Mental Fitness in ourselves and others in an effort of helping each other while feeling safe and loved during our healing and wellness journey.
